Privacy Policy

South OC Autos buys vehicles from private sellers in Southern California. This policy explains what information we collect when you contact us about selling your vehicle, why we collect it, who we share it with, and what control you have over it.

We are a licensed California wholesale vehicle dealer, license number 94258. We purchase vehicles from private parties. We do not sell vehicles to the public, and this website does not process payments, take orders, or create customer accounts.

1. Information we collect

Information you give us. When you fill out our offer form, use our contact form, call us, or text us, we collect what you provide. That usually includes:

  • Your name, phone number, and email address
  • Your vehicle year, make, model, mileage, and condition
  • Whether the title is clean and in your name
  • Your general location, such as your city or ZIP code
  • Photos of the vehicle, if you choose to send them
  • Anything else you tell us in a message or on a call

Information collected automatically. Like most websites, ours records basic technical information when you visit: IP address, browser and device type, pages viewed, time on the site, and the site or search that referred you. We use Google Analytics for this. We also use Google Search Console, which reports how our pages perform in search.

Information collected if we buy your vehicle. If you decide to sell to us, completing the sale requires documents the state of California mandates. Those typically include your driver’s license, the vehicle title, registration, odometer disclosure, and a bill of sale. These contain sensitive details such as your address, signature, license number, and the vehicle identification number. We collect them only when a transaction is actually moving forward, and only because the law requires them to transfer ownership.

2. How we use it

  • To evaluate your vehicle and give you an offer
  • To contact you about that offer by phone, text, or email
  • To arrange an in person inspection and complete a purchase
  • To meet California DMV titling, registration, and recordkeeping requirements
  • To keep records of transactions as required for a licensed dealer
  • To understand how people find and use our website so we can improve it

We do not use your information to build advertising profiles, and we do not add you to a marketing list from a vehicle inquiry.

3. Calls and text messages

When you call or text the number on this site, we keep a record of the number you called from, the date and time, and how long we spoke, so we can follow up with you. If you give us your phone number, you are agreeing that we may call or text you about your vehicle. Message and data rates from your carrier may apply. Reply STOP to any text to stop receiving them, and we will.

4. Who we share it with

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross context behavioral advertising, as those terms are defined by California law. We share information only in these situations:

  • Service providers that run this website and our communications, including our web host, our form and email delivery providers, and Google Analytics. They may only use the information to provide those services to us.
  • Government agencies, where required. Vehicle sales must be reported to the California DMV, and title and registration paperwork is filed with the state.
  • Parties needed to complete a purchase, such as a lender holding a lien on your vehicle, a bank issuing a cashier’s check, or a titling service.
  • When the law requires it, including a subpoena, court order, or law enforcement request, or to protect our legal rights.

5. How long we keep it

If you contact us and we do not end up buying your vehicle, we keep your inquiry only as long as we reasonably need it to follow up, and you can ask us to delete it sooner. If we do buy your vehicle, California law requires licensed dealers to retain transaction and title records for a set period, and we keep those records for at least that long.

6. Your California privacy rights

If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act gives you the right to:

  • Know what personal information we have collected about you and how we used it
  • Request a copy of that information
  • Request that we delete it, subject to records we are legally required to keep
  • Request that we correct information that is inaccurate
  • Limit how we use sensitive personal information
  • Not be treated differently for exercising any of these rights

To make a request, email us at sales@southocautos.com or use our contact page. We will need to verify your identity before we act on it, which usually means confirming details you already gave us. You may also use an authorized agent to make a request on your behalf.

7. Cookies and analytics

This site uses cookies to keep it working properly and to measure traffic through Google Analytics. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Some parts of the site may not work as well if you do. We do not use cookies to serve you advertising.

8. Security

This site runs over an encrypted connection, and we limit access to seller information to the people who need it to evaluate a vehicle or complete a purchase. No method of transmitting or storing information is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security. Please do not email us copies of your driver’s license or title unless we have asked you for them.

9. Children

This site is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 16. Selling a vehicle requires a legal owner of record.

10. Changes to this policy

If we change this policy we will post the updated version here and change the effective date at the top.
